Position Summary

The Health and Nutrition Educator at Bryant University reports to the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs and is accountable for providing individual and communitywide consultation and education on establishing and maintaining a healthy relationship with food.

This is a part-time, nine month position with limited benefits.

Principal Accountabilities

The principal accountabilities of the Health and Nutrition Educator include:

1. Establish and advise student initiatives to enhance community awareness about eating disorders and provide leadership to create a knowledgeable, supportive community;
2. Establish an effective partnership with student health services and counseling services to establish a comprehensive education, outreach and referral process;
3. Conduct behavior modification consultations on nutrition;
4. Partner with colleagues to address individual and community issues related to fitness, sleep, stress management, substance misuse and abuse, dietary supplements, energy drinks, and recreational and prescription drug misuse;
5. Develop and implement campus wide education and awareness campaigns focusing on healthy relationships with food;
6. Conduct workshops for specific sub-communities including athletic teams and Greek Life on healthy lifestyle choices;
7. Communicate and consult with Counseling Services, Residence Life, and Health Services to provide comprehensive care and care plans;
8. Collaborate with Sports Medicine, Strength and Conditioning, and the Fitness Center staff on related topics;
9. Coordinate family communication as a team approach to addressing eating disorder intervention;
10. Establish relationships with regional agencies to provide state-of-the-art care for students in need; and,
11. Perform other duties as assigned.


This position is best filled by an individual with a Master’s degree in Nutrition, Health, Psychology or related field, or an individual with a Bachelor’s degree and significant relevant professional experience. The individual should have a strong knowledge of Health and Wellness Coaching, Nutrition Education, and experience working with people from diverse cultures, college-aged students, student-athletes, and at-risk populations. Counseling skills and related experience are necessary to advise and establish rapport with students and employees. Working Environment

Regular attendance at assigned job site and the ability to work collaboratively with co-workers and constituents are essential functions of this position.
