Position Summary

This full time position is accountable for the daily operational support for the Confucius Institute. It will support the Assistant Director of the Confucius Institute (CI) to manage various the CI resources, organize programs and events on and off campus, and support Chinese visiting scholars. The position will also support the Assistant Director and work with Confucius Classroom Program Liaison on administrative tasks.

Principal Accountabilities

1. Support CI Assistant Director on affiliated Confucius Classrooms’ administrative management, including collecting information for annual reporting, developing CC newsletter, organizing annual CC Director Conference, communicating CC contacts on annual budgeting and processing reimbursement.
2. Assist CI Assistant Director in organizing and promoting Chinese holiday celebration events, cultural activities, community Chinese classes, and STARTALK Student Program logistics.
3. Support CI Assistant Director on managing Chinese visiting scholars, including preparing the paperwork for new scholars, overseeing their housing management maintain the communication with Bryant facilities term.
4. Maintain and manage CI’s digital resources for event promotion, including not but limited to social media accounts, CI’s various database (contact, media coverage, resources), and develop stories for marketing and Institute newsletters.
5. Manage Confucius Institute various inventories and supplies, and oversee other assets under Institute management.
6. Perform related responsibilities as assigned.


This position is best filled by an individual with an undergraduate degree who demonstrated experience with knowledge of Chinese language and culture, budgeting, program management, computer technology, and familiar with marketing and office administrative tasks. The candidate shall demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication skills in both written and spoken are required. Knowledge and experience related to travel to China is preferred. Must be detail oriented and possess excellent organizational and management skills. Domestic and international travels are expected.
